The Kerry football team manager, Mr Páidí Ó Sé has been appointed as a board member to Bord Fáilte. The announcement was made yesterday by the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Mr O'Donoghue.
The appointment of the wellknown west Kerry publican and former footballer to the tourist board would advance the cause of sports tourism, Mr O'Donoghue said.
"In keeping with the policy of the new Government to develop sports tourism, the expertise of someone with the legendary sporting pedigree which Páidí has will, I believe, play a significant role in this area.
"Looking at Páidí's own experience of developing tourism in Dingle, I know that he will bring his own unique contribution and expertise to the board of Bord Fáilte. Páidí himself is synonymous with Kerry, and as we all know, Kerry is synonymous with tourism, not just here at home but particularly in the US market," the Minister said.
Mr Ó Sé fills a vacancy created by the departure of Mr Pádraig Ó hUigínn.
