Of the 48 people killed on the roads so far this year, 22 were drivers, 14 pedestrians, five passengers, four motorcyclists and three cyclists.
The 14 who died last week were:
Monday, February 2nd: Mr Brian Smith (22), the Grove, Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan. Car he was driving went out of control in bad road conditions near Ballyjamesduff.
Mr Noel Farrell (35), from Santry. Knocked down while crossing Prussia Street in Dublin. Died in hospital two days later. Tuesday, February 3rd: Mr Thomas Carey, (74), from Edenderry, Co Offaly. Car crashed into an Army jeep on the Carbury to Edenderry road in Co Kildare.
Kenneth Jenkins (5). Hit by a reversing coal truck near his home at Whitestown Park, Mulhuddart, Dublin.
Wednesday, February 4th: Mr Pat Collins and Mr Michael McCarthy (33), both from Skibbereen, Co Cork. Vehicle collided with another travelling in the same direction on the dual carriageway at Little Island, near Cork.
Mr Dominick Dolan (23), Ludford Park, Ballinteer, Dublin. Died after car he was driving with five passengers overturned into the Grand Canal at Harold's Cross, Dublin.
Friday, February 6th: Ms Christine Hoare (34), from Bracken Court, Douglas. Killed in two-car collision on Tramore road, Togher, Cork.
Ross Donoghue (13). Knocked down as he got off the school-bus at Ballyhowley, Knock, Co Mayo.
Ms Orla McGrath (22), of Sommerville House, Navan, Co Meath. Died a few hours after a lorry overturned on to the roof of her car near Balrath.
Saturday, February 7th: Mr Shane Kelly (22), from Newrath, Slane, Co Meath. Motorcycle struck a pole near Slane.
Ms Annie Flynn (78), from Creevykeel, Co Sligo. Knocked down while walking along the Sligo to Bundoran road with her daughter near her home.
Sunday, February 8th: Mr Laurence Reilly (19) from Clones, Co Monaghan. Killed in a head-on collision at Cloghore, Ballyshannon, Co Donegal.
Lorraine Crotty (15), of Silver Springs, Dungarvan, Co Waterford. Passenger in a car which struck a steel fence outside Dungarvan.
