The Spice Girls are finally giving a concert in Ireland but for me it's just too late. If they'd come a year ago, I'd have been in the front row. That was when I was 10 and my room was covered from top to bottom with pictures and posters of Victoria, Geri, Emma and the two Mels, B and C.

Hilary, a girl in my class did a survey and only four people from the class voted The Spice Girls as their favourite band. The main reason I don't like them so much any more is that when their new album came out it wasn't so good, and I didn't get it. I kind of grew away from them and began liking other types of music. If Spiceworld hadn't had such plain words and beat I might still have been looking in Geri's face when going to sleep or seeing Victoria sticking out her tongue at my china dolls.

The T-shirts with The Spice Girls on them are mostly in small sizes but the amount of things you can buy with them on it made up for that. There are bracelets, hair bands, mugs, pencils, wrist bands, pencil cases, hair clips, bobbins - there are even chocolate bars.

I think a younger age group is into The Spice Girls now but everyone, everywhere knows of them. Near the end of 1996 they were voted worst-dressed band. I don't understand this because the truth is they don't wear any clothes at all. But then maybe that's why they were voted into that position.

Spiceworld, their movie, was really good because it wasn't just about them. It was more the story of the life of a band on the road, travelling around in their double-decker bus which was fun. I think The Spice Girls used to put more into being pop stars and more energy into their songs too.

They really lived up to their names - Posh, Scary, Baby, Sporty and Ginger - and they appeared at more events. The girl power thing didn't work anymore because it wasn't making girls stronger, it was just making boys weaker. Anyway you should have your own girl power.

I like The Spice Girls' new song: Too Much Of Something and I think their film is good. They're streets ahead of all the wannabe girl bands that copied them. Although they're not my favourite band anymore, they are still a band with a difference.

The Spice Girls play The Point on Tuesday and Wednesday.
