ONE PERSON has been charged arising out of the Garda investigation into the death of an 18-year-old woman who was found collapsed in a Dublin hotel last December.

Lauren Keech of Albert College Drive, Dublin 9, collapsed at the Ardmore Hotel, Finglas early on December 23rd, 2007.

Ms Keech, who had diabetes, was rushed to the Mater hospital, where she died later that day.

Det Insp Colm Fox of Blanchardstown Garda station told a “for mention” hearing at Dublin City Coroner’s Court yesterday that there is a charge in the District Court arising out of the Garda investigation, and he sought an adjournment of the inquest.

“This matter is being fully investigated. The file has been sent to the DPP and we have received direction. The investigation is at an advanced stage,” he said.

Coroner Dr Brian Farrell granted the application and adjourned the inquest for further mention until a date in February 2009. “I think it would be better to adjourn until the District Court proceeding is completed,” said Dr Farrell.

The District Court charges related to the Misuse of Drugs Act, Section 3 and Section 15.

Another person is being sought by gardaí in connection with their investigation.
