The Minister of State at the Department the Taoiseach, Mary Hanafin T.D

The Minister of State at the Department the Taoiseach, Mary Hanafin T.D. today launched Ireland's first online directory of services for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The website (www.irishdeaf.com) is the first online resource in Ireland designed as a one-stop-shop for the Irish deaf community.

The directory contains details of deaf clubs and organisations around Ireland , as well as news, listings of subtitled media, jobs and courses, catering for the deaf and hard of hearing community in Ireland - both North and South. Initially mooted as part of European Year of People with Disabilities, the directory is the brainchild of Stephen Gilligan, an Irish entrepreneur who has been profoundly deaf since birth.
