A High Court order for the arrest of a Maltese-registered cargo ship, which has been docked in Dublin for more than a year, has been granted to six crew members who claim to be due $133,479 in wages. Mr Justice Barr was told it appeared the owners of the MV Arachovitika Bay had abandoned the vessel. Mr Colm O hOisin, for the crew, said this had caused considerable hardship for his clients, who are all from Pakistan.

The ship's master, Mr Aj mal Ghory, said it appeared the only prospect for payment of outstanding wages was to issue the proceedings for the ship's arrest and, if necessary, a subsequent sale.
