Agri-nutrition firm Origin Enterprises recorded a 10 per cent rise in operating profit in 2007.

Operating profit for the year to end-July rose 10 per cent to €38.1 million, while group revenue was up 8.9 per cent at €889.4 million.

That was better than the €36.1 million forecast for operating profit seen by analysts at Goodbody Stockbrokers and the €36.6 million estimate by NCB.

"The group is well placed to achieve growth from continuing operations in the current financial year," Origin said.

Origin was created to focus on the original core businesses of Irish food group IAWS. IAWS has a stake of just over 71 per cent in Origin.

Shares in Origin began trading on Dublin's IEX and London's AIM stock exchanges in June.
