Pair in court over murder of woman (75)

A man and woman are due in a North court in connection with the murder of a pensioner in her Co Down home last summer.

A man and woman are due in a North court in connection with the murder of a pensioner in her Co Down home last summer.

Annie McCartan (75) was beaten and stabbed to death in her house at Summer Hill, Warrenpoint in June.

The arrests came two weeks after the killing featured on the BBC Crimewatchprogramme with a reconstruction of the pensioner's last known movements.

Police have recovered a knife used in the murder and are looking for a second weapon.

Mrs McCartan had been shopping in Newry before getting the bus home during the afternoon of June 15th.
