A bomb exploded in a cinema in the Pakistani port city of Karachi today, the eve of municipal elections, killing two people and injuring 14, state television reported.

Police earlier said one person was killed and at least six other people injured by the bomb that went off during an evening film show in Karachi's main Saddar commercial area.

But the state-run Pakistan Television later said two people were killed and 14 injured, six of them seriously.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility or information about who set off the bomb.
