Part of M50 northbound closed after shooting

A large number of shots were fired by occupants a car at another car travelling on the M50 early this morning.

At least one man was injured.

Gardaí are investigating the incident which started on the M50 and continued onto the N4. One of the cars was abandoned at a petrol station, off the N4 in Lucan.

Staff at the petrol station have told gardai that the the two occupants appeared to be wearing bullet-proof vests and at least one was bleeding from a gunshot wound.

A man was later treated for a gunshot wound at James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown but he is reportedly refusing to co-operate with gardai.

It is being reported that the shooting is connected with a feud between west Dublin criminal gangs.
