The Northern Ireland Women's Coalition has criticised mainstream male dominated political parties for again failing to run a fair balance of women candidates in the elections.

Ms Monica McWilliams, a regional candidate for the coalition, predicted that only seven women would be elected from the constituencies because of the failure of the parties "to address the exclusion of women from Northern Ireland politics".
