Seven businesses were closed last month for breaches of food safety legislation, including part of the exclusive St Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club in Dublin.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland, which yesterday published details of orders served by environmental health officers in March, said the Hibernian Club had its basement and basement yard area closed.

Also ordered to close in Dublin were the Thai Orchid restaurant, Westmoreland Street, Lemon Café Bar (food kitchen only), St Stephen’s Street, and the Oriental Express takeaway, 140 Parnell Street. The Netpol grocery at Tyrrelstown Avenue was closed for the sale of cooked meats, cheeses and ready-to-eat foods.

The Ocean Palace Chinese restaurant, Main Street, Swinford, Co Mayo, was also closed as was Superbites takeaway, New Street, Newmarket, Co Cork.
