The Sinn Féin spokesman on police and justice, Mr Gerry Kelly, strongly criticised British "death squads".
He said they had killed Sinn Féin elected representatives such as Eddie Fullerton, John Davey and Bernard O'Hagan, adding that other victims were human rights lawyer Pat Fincucane, Rosemary Nelson, Sinn Féin members and their families, IRA volunteers and their families, and ordinary citizens.
"This is a human rights scandal, which anywhere else would have brought down governments. Not so with British state terror in Ireland. Is it any wonder that Thatcher and Gen Pinochet of Chile are such close friends? After all, they share the same violent policy towards their political opponents."
