Passengers stranded in Cork fly out

The last of 260 Ryanair passengers stranded in Cork since Sunday were due to be flown to London last night

The last of 260 Ryanair passengers stranded in Cork since Sunday were due to be flown to London last night. They had been put up in a hotel. Ryanair said a "minor heating element" on one of its scheduled aircraft out of Cork on Sunday afternoon had affected three flights and left some 260 passengers stranded in the city. Flights out of Cork at 5.05 p.m. and 7.50 p.m. to London Stansted were delayed because the same aircraft was to have been used.

This also affected travellers at Stansted, who should later have returned to Cork on the same aircraft.

The airline said 130 passengers were put on flights yesterday and the remaining 130 would be flown out last night.
