FAS faces a £4.5 million increase in its wages bill as the result of a Labour Court award to 2,200 supervisors on community employment schemes.

The supervisors, members of Impact and SIPTU, are to receive increases of between £74 and £97 a week. The Lab our Court said they should be on the same rates as managers of community training workshops financed by FAS.

FAS is expected to implement the Labour Court award. However the cost could be significantly less than £4.5 million if the Government goes ahead with proposals to reduce places on community employment schemes.
