Pedestrian dies in Westmeath crash

A 27-year-old male pedestrian was fatally injured this morning after being struck by a car in Co Westmeath.

A 27-year-old male pedestrian was fatally injured this morning after being struck by a car in Co Westmeath.

The incident occurred on the N4 By pass at The Downs, Mullingar shortly before 6am.

Meanwhile gardai have released the names of the two people who died in yesterday's fatal road collision at Ardristan, Tullow, Carlow.

They are James Cody (21) of Shillelagh Grove, Tullow, Carlow and Mona Martin (59) of Ballingale, Ferns, Wexford.
