Tel Aviv - An agreement on pension reforms yesterday ended a five-day strike by 700,000 public sector workers which had crippled much of the country.
A pension reform plan was approved by the previous Labour government before it lost the May 1996 elections and the right-wing government of Mr Benjamin Netan yahu, refused to implement it.
Ben Gurion Airport was a scene of mayhem earlier yesterday as thousands of tourists stranded by the strike fought for seats on flights out of Israel.
