An Bord Pleanala has granted permission for a series of major concerts in Leixlip against the advice of a senior planning inspector.

It has been learned that the board has overturned a Kildare County Council decision to refuse permission for a maximum of six concerts in any one year from 1997 to 2001 at Leixlip Demesne, on lands owned by Mr Desmond Guinness.

Permission has been granted to Mr Vince Power and Mr Melvin Benn of Mean Fiddler Ltd, for one concert per year over the three years from 1998 to 2000 along with conditions including a 20,000 maximum crowd and monitoring requirements.
