English First Division champions Manchester City have signed former Denmark international Peter Schmeichel.
City boss Kevin Keegan has swooped to sign the former Manchester United legend after Aston Villa manager Graham Taylor opted not to renew the Dane's contract, according to Sky Sports.
Schmeichel was dropped from the Villa squad for today's game at home to Leeds, with Taylor opting for a more youthful approach with Peter Enckelman in goal.
City beat Gillingham 3-1 at Preistfield today, and afterwards Keegan revealed he will bring Schmeichel to Maine Road at the end of the season.
