Island Theatre Company has given Limerick almost 12 years of quality theatre. Pigtown marks its coming of age - veteran company member Terry Devlin directs a script by another Island stalwart, Mike Finn, and with exuberance and confidence they celebrate 100 years of the sprawling life of their home base, Pigtown.

It is poetical, warmly human, energetically entertaining. It also has touches reminiscent of the radical socialism of the 7:84 company: it sides with the victims. It is hard to avoid the warmth of nostalgia, but Devlin directs a promenade production, which amounts to a marvellous exploitation of the versatile SFX space.

Until October 14th, 8 p.m.
