A pipe bomb has been made safe at the rear of a house in North Belfast.

A pipe bomb has been made safe at the rear of a house in North Belfast.

A security operation got under way at lunchtime after the discovery of a suspect object.

The RUC said the "suspicious object" was found in the rear garden of a house in the Greencastle area of the city.

Surrounding houses were evacuated during the security operation.
