A US-bound plane which made an unscheduled landing in Dublin after a call was received about a suspect device on board resumed its journey early today.

A spokeswoman for Dublin Airport Authority said the Lufthansa Boeing 747-400 landed at 3.40 p.m. yesterday and its passengers and crew disembarked. Passengers re-boarded the aircraft early today after gardaí found nothing suspicious during a search.

The aircraft took off from Dublin at about 2.45 a.m. today.

A Lufthansa spokeswoman said there were 18 crew members and 373 passengers on board the Frankfurt-Newark flight.

"It was rerouted into Dublin because apparently Lufthansa had received a call to their call centre saying there was a suspect device aboard," the airport spokeswoman said.

A Lufthansa spokeswoman in Frankfurt said she could not provide any further details about the call that led to the unscheduled landing.
