Councillors will meet in Limerick on Wednesday to discuss how the city should honour one of its most famous sons, the late actor Richard Harris.
Officials and councillors had been accused of snubbing Harris by not commissioning a suitable memorial by the second anniversary of his death last year. Earlier this year, they agreed to fund a Harris portrait for the city hall.
Mayor Diarmuid Scully has pledged that a fitting permanent memorial will be in place before the end of his mayoralty.
Councillors will meet to discuss proposals, some of which are understood to include renaming the Millennium Theatre at Limerick Institute of Technology after Harris or renaming a city centre street after him.
