Police arrest man in east Belfast raid

A man was arrested after ten houses were searched by police in East Belfast last night.

A man was arrested after ten houses were searched by police in East Belfast last night.

Police said the searches were conducted as part of an investigation into serious crime. It is understood the operation was linked to the loyalist murder of Brian Stewart on Tuesday.

It is thought the Ulster Volunteer Force was behind the fatal shooting, which has been linked to feuding with the LVF.

Mr Stewart's funeral is to take place today.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which shots were fired at a house in Dundonald, in east Belfast. No one was injured in the attack.
