HANOVER - Six thousand police in the northern city of Hanover, Germany, were bracing themselves yesterday for an expected wave of punks and anarchists expected to defy a court ban and hold their banned `chaos days' rally this weekend.

Hoping to benefit while police focus on the punks, German neo Nazis have applied to hold over 100 marches to commemorate Adolf Hitler's former deputy Rudolf Hess this weekend.
