Police in the North have named the baby girl killed yesterday when a car and a fire engine collided in Co Fermanagh.

Ciara Marie Lee, aged 21 months from Ballyconnel in Co Cavan, died when the car driven by her childminder collided with a fire engine on its way to another accident.

The girl's brother, aged three, and the childminder were hurt in the crash near Enniskillen. The girl's other brother - who is eight weeks old - and the childminder's 17-year-old daughter were uninjured.

Two fire officers were also hurt but are not thought to have life-threatening injuries.

The car had been on its way from the children's home at Ballyconnell - just across the Border in Co Cavan - when the accident happened.

The police and fire service have begun investigations into the cause of the accident, which left the fire engine on its side in the road and the car crumpled on the grass verge.
