Police in Britain investigating the recent murder of a prostitute are seeking to question a man currently in custody in the Republic on a series of charges.

A spokeswoman for Norwich police said detectives planned to travel to the Republic this month. They wanted to interview the man in the prison where he is being held on remand.

The man was arrested by gardaí in January in connection with a number of alleged assaults in the State.

Norwich police wish to question the man on the death of Ms Hayley Curtis (23), one of four prostitutes from the town to have been murdered or disappeared in the past 10 years.

The man is known to UK police and gardaí by two different names.

Ms Curtis went missing last October, and her body was found in a ditch by the side of the A3 close to Petersfield in January.

It is believed her remains had been in the ditch for several weeks.

Police said there was no apparent link between her death and the murder of the three other prostitutes, although they were keeping an open mind.
