The lack of security of tenure and poor housing standards for people who receive rent supplementary allowance have been highlighted in a survey published by the Combat Poverty Agency.

The findings cover housing costs in the private rented sector for people dependent on social welfare.

The report published yesterday concludes that bedsits and flats rented to recipients of rent supplement are the types of accommodation most likely to be sub-standard. Half the survey recipients were living in poor standard flats or bedsits.
