US: Legendary "Wall of Sound" record producer Phil Spector has been charged with murdering B-movie actress Lana Clarkson at his Alhambra, California, home last February, prosecutors said yesterday.
Spector (63) was arrested on February 3rd after Clarkson (41) was found shot to death in the foyer of his faux castle home, but he was quickly freed on $1 million bail. Although Spector claimed that Clarkson had committed suicide by "kissing the gun", prosecutors accused him of being the gunman.
Spector, known as the creator of the lush "Wall of Sound" recording technique, was due to make his first court appearance yesterday. Prosecutors said he would remain free on bail. The pair had met at the House of Blues, where Clarkson worked as a hostess. The tall blonde actress starred in Amazon Women in the Moon and The Barbarian Queen. - (Reuters)
