Petrol bombs were thrown into a pub in Portadown, Co Armagh, last night where customers were watching Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifying match against Germany. The Golden Hind in West Street was extensively damaged by fire following the attack in the staunchly loyalist area.

A number of people were arrested by the RUC and were being questioned last night in connection with the incident, according to a police spokesman. No one was seriously injured in the attack which happened about 8 p.m.
