Almost seven out of 10 people in the North feel the new Policing Board will help ensure a satisfactory standard of policing, according to a new survey. The Northern Ireland Omnibus survey, carried out in March but published yesterday, found that 69 per cent of respondents thought the board would make sure the police did a good job. Just over 60 per cent of those surveyed thought that the board would be independent of the police.
