Power restored to thousands in Cork

Thousands of homes were left without power in Cork city today following a major electrical fault.

Thousands of homes were left without power in Cork city today following a major electrical fault.

Most traffic lights in the area also failed due to the damage at three ESB sub stations on the north side of the city. Motorists were advised to drive with extreme caution until the traffic lights start working again.

Engineers repaired the fault and restored power by early afternoon.
