The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITTA) has been praised by the Minister of State, Mr Emmet Stagg, for reducing the number of package holidays on sale.
Speaking at the ITTA midterm conference in Dublin yesterday, Mr Stagg said the industry had taken prompt action in reducing the level of package holidays when confronted by an oversupply.
"I was pleased that the apparent risk of over capacity for 1996 led to prompt action by the sector itself in tailoring the capacity on offer," he said.
