THE President, Mrs Robinson, will open the first Warrington Fleadh and meet members of the Irish community during a three day tour of the north of, England which starts today.

According to Irish Government sources, the theme of the tour is reconciliation, as the President will be visiting Warrington and Birmingham, to remember the victims of IRA bomb attacks there.

"The President will also be meeting and offering support to the Irish community living in Britain at the difficult time following the resumption of IRA bombings," said a source.

After arriving in Leeds early this morning, President Robinson will visit the city's Irish centre before attending a reception at the Civic Hall.

Tomorrow she will attend a Mass at Saint Patrick's Church in Manchester, which will be celebrated by Cardinal Basil Hume.

After meeting representatives of Warrington's peace organisation, The Bridge, including Mr Colin Parry, whose son Tim was killed in the IRA bomb attack in the town, President Robinson will officially open the fleadh by unveiling a memorial book.

On Monday, President Robinson will deliver the inaugural lecture of the Centre for the Study for Forgiveness and Reconciliation at Coventry Cathedral. The guests will include the Provost of Coventry, the Very Rev John Petty and the Bishop of Coventry, the Right Rev Simon Barrington Ward.

The President will also lay flowers at the memorial for the Birmingham bombing victims outside the city's cathedral.
