Priest tied up and robbed in Co Tipperary

A Co Tipperary parish priest was tied up while his house and adjoining church were robbed last night, the Garda said.

A Co Tipperary parish priest was tied up while his house and adjoining church were robbed last night, the Garda said.

The attack happened at 11.45 p.m. when two men wearing balaclavas broke into the parochial house in the town of Emly.

The priest, who was in his sitting room watching television, was pushed to the ground and had his hands tied behind his back.

The two men searched the house and stole cash. They took the keys to the adjoining church where they also took a small amount of cash. The ordeal lasted ½ an hour.
