Prosecutors are investigating thedeath of a senior Polish health official whose body was found inthe grounds of his holiday home in northern Poland yesterday.
Maciej Tokarczyk was head of Poland's National Health Fund,a key component of the leftist government's health structureswhich have been rocked by corruption scandals and shake-ups.
"The preliminary investigation has indicated he took his ownlife by shooting himself in the head with his hunting rifle, butthe possibility of an accidental death is also beinginvestigated," prosecutor's spokesman for northern Olsztynprovince Mieczyslaw Orzechowski told a news conference broadcastby private news channel TVN-24.
The spokesman said foul play had not been completely ruledout, adding no note had been found and no motive for a suicidehad been established so far.
