Police in the North have arrested 13 individuals during searches across three counties in connection with an investigation in to the 1997 sectarian murder of GAA official Seán Brown.
A number of individuals have been arrested in the operation, which is taking place at locations across Counties Antrim, Armagh and Tyrone.
According to police, eight men and one woman have been arrested under terrorism legislation and a further three women and one man have been arrested under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
It is understood that detectives investigating the murder are being accompanied by officers from the organised crime branch of the PSNI who are investigating unrelated loyalist criminality.
Police have seized a number of items during their searches including a firearm, an imitation firemarm, an air rifle, a quantity of ammunition and a a number of computers.
Seán Brown, aged 61 and from Bellaghy, was abducted by the LVF as he was locking up the local GAA club and murdered in May 1997.
In a report published in January of 2004, the Police Ombudsman, Mrs Nuala O'Loan, found there were "significant failures" in the original RUC investigation.
She accused officers of making "no earnest effort" to find his killers and said their investigation was "incomplete and inadequate".
Her report said there was no evidence of collusion between the RUC and LVF.
The PSNI Chief Constable, Mr Hugh Orde, accepted the report's findings, apologised for the police failures and launched a fresh investigation.
They have also seized £100,000 worth of vehicles and a number of offensive weapons.
