The PSNI appealed for witnesses today to a sectarian attack in Co Derry which left three people injured.

The victims ? two men and a woman ? were walking along Killowen Street in Coleraine at around 11pm last night when a group approached and assaulted them.

One of the injured men received a wound to his head, the other suffered cuts and bruising to his face, and the woman was left shocked and bruised.

A PSNI spokesman urged anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the attackers as they made off towards the nearby Pates Lane to come forward.

?Police continue to work closely with the community in this part of the town and can reassure local residents that the assault, which is being treated as a sectarian hate crime, is being actively investigated,? he said.
