Punchestown's meeting today went ahead after four inspections which delayed the start of racing for 30 minutes.

The first inspection was at 8am and not surprisingly the track was still frozen, with a second check called for 11am.

With temperatures slowly rising it was decided that a decision would be taken at 1pm, with the Irish Turf Club's Cliff Noone said: "They will delay a decision and take another look at 1pm. The stewards have the power to delay the start of racing so they may set it back by half an hour."

However, the track had still not completely thawed and it was not until a fourth check at 2pm that the card was given the green light.

"They've given it the go-ahead and the first race will be at 2.45pm, half an hour later than planned," said Noone.
