Cairo - Egypt's majestic pyramids are drawing opera-loving night-time visitors as the floodlit backdrop for performances of Verdi's Aida on the very desert sands where the composer had envisaged it.
The opera opened at the Pyramids plateau on Monday night before 3,000 fans, including hundreds of tourists from around the world, and under heavy security.
