What are the ethical considerations in cloning? Is genetically modified food safe? Would you accept a transplant organ from a pig? The science and ethics of recent developments in biology will be discussed today during a talk entitled "Biology in the 21st Century: Towards A Brave New World?", to be given by Prof Peter Whittaker, head of the biology department at NUI Maynooth. Prof Whittaker is a member of the EU Commission's ethics advisory group in biology and has much experience in the direction technology is taking and on the ethical considerations linked to it. The talk is today at 1 p.m. in the Callan Science Building on the new campus at NUI Maynooth.
