Raiders take large number of coins from bank

The men went into the National Irish Bank on Ballymount Road at 9.15 a.m. No shots were fired, but one bank worker was slightly hurt.

The raiders left in a dark-coloured Saab car which was driven by a fourth man. The car was later abandoned at the Robinhood Industrial Estate.

Gardai are appealing for information from the public.

"Gardai also wish to alert other banks and shop owners to the fact that a large quantity of one euro, tow euro, one cent and five cent coin has been stolen and thieves may be trying to exchange it," a Garda statement said.
