Blantyre - Rangers at one of Malawi's main game reserves were accused of killings, rape and torture in a report released by a German-funded human rights organisation.
The National Initiative for Civic Education, sponsored by a German technical aid agency, GTZ, said four poachers had been shot dead by rangers since 1998 at Liwonde National Park in Machinga district, in the south of the country. It also detailed alleged atrocities suffered by poachers and villagers around the park.
