Islamic militants killed three Indian security personnel in an ambush overnight in the disputed state of Kashmir, a police spokesman said today.
The ambush, which killed a soldier and two policemen and wounded two other policemen, occurred in Mehroot village, some 225 kilometers west of Indian Kashmir's winter capital, Jammu.
The spokesman said the security force members were hunting for Islamic rebels in the village last night when they came under fierce gunfire.
The rebels fled into a surrounding forest, where Indian troops were trying to track them down today.
