GARDAI investigating the murder of Ms Marilyn Rynn in Dublin have staged a reconstruction of her last known movements which is to be shown on RTE's Crimeline programme tonight.

Despite an intensive investigation, gardai remain puzzled by the case and hope tonight's programme will encourage members of the public to come forward with information.

Ms Rynn (41), a civil servant, was reported missing on December 26th. Her naked body was found on wasteground near her home in Blanchardstown on January 7th. She had been raped and apparently died after a violent struggle.

On December 22nd, Ms Rynn, had attended a party at the Shieling Hotel, in Raheny, before taking a taxi to Eddie Rockets City Diner on O'Connell Street. She is believed to have taken a late night bus to Blanchardstown at about 3 a.m. and to have been attacked as she made her way from the bus stop at Blanchardstown village to her home on Brookhaven Drive.

Gardai believe she could have been attacked by a local man and have been examining the movements of a number of known sex offenders in the area, but so far none has been linked to the crime.

Detectives are anxious to talk to the taxi driver who took her to O'Connell Street. They have not yet established whether she had arranged to meet someone there. They also want to talk to people who took a Nitelink bus home to Blanchardstown at about 3 a.m.

Ms Rynn's disappearance was initially treated as a missing person inquiry and eyewitness reports indicated she had taken a bus into town late on the morning of Friday, December 22nd.

Seventy officers, led by Chief Supt Jim McHugh, are now involved in the investigation and have set up a mobile, incident room near the murder scene in Blanchardstown.
