The remains of close friends Kathy Dinsmore and Marion Graham, who were murdered near Izmir in Turkey last Thursday, are expected to be flown back to Ireland today.
The Irish Embassy in Turkey, in co-operation with local authorities, has facilitated the completion of the necessary paperwork to allow the bodies be repatriated, it was confirmed yesterday. The main suspect, Turkish waiter Recep Cetin, remains in custody. He is suspected of stabbing the two women to death in a wooded park because Ms Graham would not allow him to marry her 15-year-old daughter, Shannon.
Shannon Graham flew back to Northern Ireland on Monday. It is hoped the two funerals can take place this week.
