LONDON - Passenger jets sometimes fly with both pilots asleep at the controls - but it is not seen as a major safety worry, a Civil Aviation Authority spokesman said yesterday.

He was speaking after a leaked report from an official industry safety body said it received confidential reports from pilots about falling asleep.

A CAA spokesman said: "Incidents of pilots falling asleep are highly publicised but they don't happen often.

"This is not the sort of safety problem which causes serious concern."
