The future of the River Liffey is threatened by water abstraction to supply the needs of Dublin, Progressive Democrats Senator John Dardis said yesterday.
Senator Dardis said the Greater Dublin Water Supply Strategic Study, issued by the" Department of the Environment, showed "an astonishing, disregard for the potential environmental consequences of increased water abstraction" from the river.
The study focused solely on demand for water and did not even refer to potential damage to the Liffey.
