Geneva - The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mrs Mary Robinson, yesterday named five experts to an international panel to investigate atrocities in East Timor.
They are: Ms Sonia Picado of Costa Rica, who is to chair the panel; Ms Judith Sefi Attah of Nigeria; Mr A.M. Ahmadi of India; Mr Mari Kapi of Papua New Guinea; and Ms Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger of Germany.
Mrs Robinson is expected to meet them next week in Geneva to co-ordinate the investigation, which was called for by the UN Commission on Human Rights on September 27th. They are to be backed up by forensic experts.
