Geneva - Mrs Mary Robinson leaves today for her first visit to Africa as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and plans to hold talks with the leaders of Uganda, Rwanda and South Africa.

Her week-long mission comes amid continuing ethnic violence in Rwanda and efforts by South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate apartheid-era crimes.

Mrs Robinson plans to meet President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda, President Pasteur Bizimungu and VicePresident Paul Kagame of Rwanda, and President Nelson Mandela of South Africa.
